Full Steam Ahead in Mesaieed Industrial City

Continued Growth & Contribution to Qatar’s Prosperity
Qatar’s modern cities provide excellent housing, educational institutions, medical facilities, parks and a variety of recreational areas to a growing multi-national community, through well-planned utilities and communications networks.

This urban growth and expansion is none more obvious than at Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC), which has transformed itself over the years from a simple Port Facility exporting crude oil, into Qatar’s main Industrial City and Centre for Petrochemical and Oil Refining activities.

Today, its Industrial Area accommodates an oil refinery, a fertiliser complex, petrochemical complexes, natural gas liquids plant and a steel mill, in addition to oil receiving terminal and export facilities. The existing infrastructure and utilities network is being completely upgraded to ensure state-of-the art facilities and services in support of existing as well as new industries. A separate industrial zone for light and support industries is also being upgraded to attract new investors.

Therefore, to face the challenges ahead with globalization spreading at a rapid pace, we take full adavantage of the opportunities available through competitiveness, and our mission as related to Mesaieed Port is to plan, design and develop the required ifnrastructure and port facilities that are superior to those of our competitors.

Following major expansions in 1996 and 1997, Qatar Petroleum is proceeding with new joint ventures valued at over USD 2.5 billion in partnership with internationally renowned firms. Most of the projects, which are at various stages of completion or implementation, are located in Mesaieed where they can take advantage of local resources and provide added value to the available raw materials. In addition, MIC has recently completed a detailed Master Plan of its community, which will be implemented over the next several years which will continue the improvement in housing, shopping, municipal services and other amenities to the companies and business in Mesaieed as well as its residents.

Mesaieed is located off the main road leading to Wakra (15 minutes) and the capital Doha (30 minutes). The easy access to Doha allows one to enjoy the cultural and social events of the lively capital while still living close to work in the calm and friendly atmosphere of Mesaieed.
