Hazardous Waste

Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC) as well as other industrial cities such as Ras Laffan and Dukhan generate varieties of hazardous wastes from different types of heavy industries.
Attention is given herein to those liquid, solid, or semi-solid wastes, which because of the quantity involved, the concentration of constituents, and /or the characteristics, pose a hazard to human health and/or the environment if they are improperly managed.
The hazardous wastes need to be properly treated and safely disposed through a well-designed treatment center. The project objectives include the design of a hazardous waste treatment facility to treat many types of wastes generated in Qatar.
The facility is going to use the best available technology and the most economical methods for treatment to ensure safety of the local environment and inhabitants. The criteria for the selection of the treatment technologies for the design of the HWTC were based on efficiency, cost effectiveness, versatility and reliability.
The technologies that will be used in operating the HWTC is based on Neutralization, Solidification and Stabilization, Land filling, Land farming, Oily Waste Treatment Facility and possible usage in the future of Incineration.
